Peel (if you must) and slice your potatoes into fries—about ¼ to ½ inch thick. The thinner they are, the crispier they’ll get, but don’t go too thin unless you want fries that could double as confetti.
Soak the Fries (Optional but Worth It):
If you have time (and patience), soak the potato slices in water for 30 minutes. This helps remove some of the starch, giving you crispier fries. If you’re running late, just skip it.
Season the Fries:
Drain the potatoes (if you soaked them) and pat them dry with a towel. Toss them in a bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you’re feeling today. Get that oil evenly distributed so every fry is coated.
Air Fry the Fries:
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (about 200°C). Place the fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer (don’t overcrowd them). Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to make sure all sides get that crispy goodness.
Check for Crispy Perfection:
Once they’re golden and crispy, take them out and give them a final sprinkle of salt. If you like extra crispy, pop them back in for another 2–3 minutes—just keep an eye on them so they don’t burn.
Serve and Enjoy:
Plate your fries, serve with ketchup, ranch, or any dip of choice, and enjoy the crispiness that comes from minimal effort. You earned it!
